    Well, what can I say, this is sort of NYC in a nutshell, a bit tribal, a bit garage and a bit of deep house.

    Really catchy but still not cheesy vocal house on one of the UK's finest labels for soleful music.

    Subliminal Soul go from strength to strength, this time letting Steve Silk Hurley provide some soulful dancefloor action.
    4. Itaal Shur presents Milk & Honey - You me and the music - Wave
    Jon Cutler in the mix makes for a percussion driven treat.
    5. Knee Deep presents Upper Class - Good for da hole/
    212th Street Hustle - Spectrum

    Knee Deep keep on borrowing from classic dance tunes, this time it's The Salsoul Orchestra who gets sampled.
    6. Jill Scott - Love Rain - White
    Why are always the greatest Jill Scott mixes on whites???
    7. Soul Avengerz feat. Kat Blu - Can't Stop - Dtension
    Oh yes, Full Intention on remix duty providing their trademark sound.

    Semi-instrumental from T.Kolai. As low key and beautiful as ever from these guys.
    10. Dajae & Full Intention - What do you want - Essence
    What can I say, I love both Dajae and the Full Intention guys, so a combo cannot be anything but great.
    11. Al Lindrum feat. Gry - Love in the park - Brother Brown
    Dead simple catchy Danish house with an infectious piano riff and screaming vocals. The first release on Brother Brown Records.
    12. Su-Paka-Pooh - Theme De Yo-Yo - Disorient
    Disorient know their deep stuff.
    13. Michael Jackson - Off the wall - White
    There are quite a few MJ mixes out there at the moment. I have no clue who made this one, but it actually happens to be a good one...
    14. Linus Loves - Body & Soul - Glasgow Underground
    The original is the one that counts, sampling my favourites First Choice.
    15. Midnight Creeperz - I like/I'll be good 2 u - Mindworks
    Sampling Pamela Fernandez for the vocals on I like is a promising start and the rest just gets better.
    16. DJ Touche & PePe - Good looking/Tangerine - Subliminal
    Disco sampling funkiness in a typical Subliminal style.
    17. The DHJ Project - Your spirit - DIY Discs
    Lot's of mixes and they're all great.
    18. The Psycedelic Waltons feat. Roisin Murphy - Wonderland - Echo
    Produced by Nellee Hooper with Ms Murphy on vocal Duty and The S-man doing the remixes, you might get an idea of what it sounds like.
    19. MJ Cole - Tired Games (MAW mixes) - White
    UK garage King Cole gets the remix treatment from the Dons of US house and garage typical MAW style.
    20. Brown & Brown - Good life - Azuli
    This time the MAS Collective actually come up with a great mix providing tribal feeling to this one.

    1. Jay-J & Chris Lum - Roots - Moulton Studios
    Takes over where "Remember" left off. Spoken or sung versions to choose from. Really deep and soulful.
    2. Ultra Naté - Twisted - Giant Step
    Ultra Naté on Giant step is a great combo. The original is a soulful downtempo number to which Blaze provide the remixes to take this into garage heaven.
    3. Studio 76 feat. Lisa Millet - Satisfaction - Smokin' Beats
    Lisa in usual good form on this 21st century disco track. Funky guitars and groovy bass makes me just want to move.
    4. Kimeisha Holmes - Ups and downs - Yellorange
    On Humphries own label in a typical Humphries style with smooth production and great vocals. Proper US garage.
    5. David Panda feat. Anja - How sweet - Kass Recordings
    Unusual sound for being a Swedish label. These guys are bringing us some proper house and garage
    6. Nathan Haines feat. Shelley Nelson - Believe - Chilli Funk
    Kenny Dope on remix duties provides that trademark MAW sound. The vibe solo sounds like it could have been done by legend Vince Montana JR.
    7. Pascal & Mr Day - Shelter - Glasgow Underground
    Milton Jackson takes this into breakbeaty dub territory with a fat bass line on top.
    8. Masters At Work presents West End - The 25th anniversary edition mastermix - West End
    All classic tracks carefully reedited and remixed by MAW can't go wrong.
    9. Blue Six - Do it together - Naked Music
    Typical Naked Music release, which means it's great.
    10. Stevie Wonder - Vicious - White
    The Wonder man get's another bootleg remix treatment and with a song like this you can't go wrong.
    11. Future Rhythm Foundation - Exploration EP - Paperecordings
    Mixed bag of goodies on this three track EP, ranging from disco to jazz.
    12. Su Su Bobien - Keep it to myself (Eric Kupper mixes) - Soundmen On Wax
    That big voice and great background vocals together with a strong song makes this into a quality sing-along US garage track.
    13. Lo Fidelity Allstars feat. Byron Stingily - Sleeping faster - Skint
    Unlikely combination with an interestingly good result. Rough and smooth at the same time.
    14. Kid Creme - Hypnotising/Don't stop my roots - Jalapeno Records
    This is in similar style as last year's killer track "Austin's Groove". Sampling Odesseys "Going back to my roots".
    15. Big Moses feat. Agboola - Soulful strings - Subliminal Soul
    More guitar than strings actually. Jazz guitar in a George Benson style.
    16. Federal States feat. AJ Lewis - Love changes - Mainline
    Vocal track with funky guitars and a happy positive vibe.
    17. KOT - Young hearts - ?
    Much hyped up record, but will it be as big as "Finally"?
    18. AK - Say that you love me - King Street
    AK with mixes by FK and EK. Japanese track with Japanese and English lyrics.
    19. Big Bang Theory - God's Child - Defected
    Familiar spoken sample backed by some disco loops makes this a party record. Cheesy? Maybe so, but I like it.
    20. Liquid People - Monster - Soul Syndicate
    Pumping house track with an overdose of trumpets. Cricco Castelli's mix is the one to go for.

    1. DJ Jose Burgos & DJ Duron Tarik feat. Ricky Nelson - Better days - Basscleff
    Basscleff have put out some really great stuff lately and this is no exception. The song and production brings Stevie Wonder to my mind.
    2. Homecookin - Do what you wanna - Sole
    On the label of soul, this song about making a brand new start has a summery vibe to it, reminding us of warmer times to come.
    3. Red No 5 - Happiness Togetherness - Subliminal Soul
    The sort of uplifting stuff that quickly has become the trademark of Subliminal Soul.
    4. Copyright presents One Track Mind feat. Angie Brown - Good for you - Soul-Furic
    Another one for the coming summer season. This is good for everyone, take my word for it...
    5. Chris Brann - So in love EP - Bombay Records
    Three equally great tracks that actually comes close to translating the feeling of being in love into music.
    6. Brancaccio & Aisher - It's gonna be (a lovely day) - Credence
    Sampling the S.O.U.L S.Y.S.T.E.M's ten year old cover of the Bill Wither's song. Chris Lum & Jay-J's mix is the one to go for a with a really infectious bassline.
    7. Dealer's Choice - New York City - Paperecordings
    Just like the Big Apple, these guys take their influences from all over the world and makes something of their own.
    8. Jestofunk feat. Ce Ce Rogers - Be a warrior - Irma Unlimited
    Jazzy little number blessed by the vocal talents of Ce Ce Rogers.

    Getting all deep talking about life in the form of drinks...
    10. Attaboy - New world - Toko
    Relaxed and dreamy track, led by acoustic guitars.
    11. Groove Assassins & DJ Raw - DJ's preaching machine - Glasgow Underground
    A tried and tested formula, funky backing track with Mr preacher on top. Never fails...
    12. Mekkah feat. Bryan Chambers - I got you - Union Square
    Resembling style to Powerhouse's "What you need" from a few years back, with hooky piano and fierce vocals.
    13. Pound Boys presents The Omi-Palones - The pretty face EP - Henry Street
    Cut'n'paste disco styled tracks is what it's all about here. All with that certain Pound Boys groove.
    14. Atmoz feat. Jeffrey Darnell - Get Ready - The Antidote
    Joey Musaphia providing the mixes for this proper male vocal house tune.
    15. Ultra Naté - I don't understand - Strictly Rhythm
    At last Strictly are back into good form again, releasing great vocal house. This one with Ms Naté produced by Mood II Swing has qualite written all over it. Original and Dave Warrin's mixes are the ones to look out for.
    16. DJ John Julius Knight presents Knightime funk Vol 3 - My mind - Soul-Furic Trax
    One sided really catchy filtered disco track with the simplest lyrics around;)
    17. Mochico feat. Xavier - Mochico 4 - Mochico
    Rough, minimalistic production and vocals delivered in a wailing style courtesy of Xavier.
    18. Barrio Brothers feat. Onionz & Joeski - Flippin it - Shaboom
    Bouncing basslines and skippy beats is what it's all about.
    19. Urban Soul - Flying to be free - King Street
    Roland Clark aided in the mixing departement by Todd Gardner. Urban Soul fans will recognize the style, although the production could have done without the autotune effect.
    20. Katie Holmes - Still waiting - Centric Records
    Song structure, lyrics and vocals on this one sound more like an R'n'B track, with a really catchy chorus that sticks to my mind.

    Beautiful, sublime and emotional. Not peak time dance floor material, but great listening music.
    8. Nick Santillan feat. Jackie Green - Of your body - Loveslap
    Nick and Jackie get together once again to creat some discoey magic.

    Full on vocal stuff from the Lords of Swedish Deep House.

    Much hyped up record, but this is a track that's worthy the hype.

    Blaze team up with Palmer Brown to deliver another one of those musical poems.

    Great semi-dubby track. Too bad they didn't go for a full on vocal whith such a talanted singer at hand.

    Nervous seems like they're back on track again releasing anthems like this.
    14. Georgie Porgie - Love's gonna save the day - Vinyl Soul
    Georgie Porgie never fails to deliver the goodies.

    A little harder than usual for this label, but still soulful.

    Complete with a lovely Joe Smooth remix.

    Tribal stuff asking "When the music hits you watcha gonna do?" Well, the answer is simple, dance...

    More typical CZR than Alexander East, but that's not a bad thing.

    Sub label to Shelter, which means that this is proper NYC garage.

    This one comes complete with a KOT remix.

    Gorgeous song that is moody and uplifting at the same time.

    Jazzy vibes that are praising the joy of music.

    One of those great records that could fit in lot of different sets - soulful, funky, etc.
    4. Harrison Crump - Gone - Hump
    Vocal track from the Crump Daddy - and he's atually singing himself and he does it really well.
    5. Automagic feat. Aswan - The one that got away - Chilli Funk
    Beatiful vocal stormer about the Big L that got away.
    6. Delilah - Delilah(B strong 4 me) - Yoshitoshi
    Actually a Yoshitoshi release that's not on a progressive tip. Produced by Chris Brann, which means it's in a OM/Naked style.
    7. Marlon D & Frank Ojeda feat. Ocean - Miss our love - Underground Collective
    A song that feels like a summer breeze with a dreamy piano and smooth vocals. Did I mention the piano???
    8. Audiowhores - Got my eyes on you - Audiowhores
    Cut'n'paste job that actually is rather soulful, which isn't that strange since they've sampled Stephanie Mills' classic "Watcha gonna do with my loving?".
    9. Various - Deep Chords EP - Lab records
    A compilation sampler from Lab records containing the tracks: Smooth Pilots "I'm your man"/Freestyle Man "A day in June" Smooth pilots are really smooth, providing a classy vocal number. Freestyle man is on an instrumental deep house tip.
    10. Arnold Jarvis - Rising into joy - Black Vinyl
    Solid performance once again from one of House music's greatest voices. Mellow track with and organic feel to it.
    11. Tony Coleman - We got the vibe - New Generation
    Coleman's proclaiming he's got the vibe and judging from this track he sure does.
    12. Nica - Nica's dream - Foreplay
    Bossa House - A track for both partying and chilling in the summer sun.
    13. The Rurals - Stay together/Heaven - Quiet Riot
    Two slabs of organic and dreamy deep house.
    14. Zero 7 - In the waiting line - Giant Step
    Funky non-house record that would fit really well into a house set. Comes complete with mixes from Aquanote and Kruder & Dorfmeister.
    15. Gigi - Gud Fella - Palm Picture
    Really strong house song with an Afro feel.
    16. Alison Crocket - Love will return - Decibel
    Great vocal track with some phat dubs if you like it slightly harder.

    Music sure is sweet, especially when made by this young Swedish dude.
    5. Pound Boys feat. Coco Brown - Get Out Of My Life - Look At You
    The boys are back with yet another blinding vocal workout.
    6. Stevie Wonder - Another Star - White
    Stevie must be the most bootlegged artist around at the moment. When it's this good, I certainly don't mind.

    Well, Chance might be a true diva, but with that voice she's worth the special treatment.

    One of dance music's greatest voices graces this fine Nu Disco number with production from two of the true masters of the genre.

    Ok, so it's basically some beats and a bass line, but sometimes that's all you need for a great dance track.

    The crying children in the background might be a bit over the top, but apart from that it's a soulful house gem in a the true MAW vein.
    19. Blaze - Do You Remember House? - Slip'n'Slide
    A bunch of mixes are out there, but the original is the one that rocks the hardest.

    Familiar samples from various sources on top of a very catchy groove makes for a funky crowd pleaser.

    I truly love the fact that beautiful records like this exists. Hi pitched male vocals and a simple piano led groove is all you need to make great music.
    2. Dennis Ferrer - Reach 4 Freedom - Nite Grooves
    Heavenly vocals and some killer acoustic guitars. Beautiful.
    3. Blue 6 - Music and wine (Unreleased mixes) - Naked Music
    One of my favourites from the Naked Music label. Here with previously unreleased mixes that makes my just love it even more.
    4. Roy Davis JR - Cherish - Bombay Records
    Bombay records keep on bringing the soulful sounds to the house nation, this time with one of the best tracks from Roy Davis Jr that I've heard in a while.
    5. DJ Rhythm feat. Blu - Do for love - Infinite Soul
    Electric Bass, Rhodes Piano, some subtle guitars, beautiful female vocals and a wonderful melody. With all these ingredients you just can't go wrong.
    6. DJ John Julius Knight - Find a friend - Soulfuric
    Happy cut'n'paste job that samples Sylvester's "Over and over" and makes everyone on the floor very friendly.
    7. Dave Storm feat. Charlie C - Ride - Refunkt
    Vocal stormer (I couldn't resist) that's been snapped up and rereleased by Refunkt and it comes complete with Joey Musaphia Mixes.
    8. Sheridan - Know your instrument - Vapour
    Sheridan seems to at least know how to use his sampler to get a good groove going. Sampling the Philly classic "TSOP" makes for a good foundation.

    Lisa Millet is one of the true Nu Disco Divas. I you like her style she sure doesn't disappoint this time either.
    10. Thick Dick - Insatiable - Sondos
    Displaying a not so hard side of the Sondos label. Funky disco at it's best, but the harder mixes are there in case you need them.
    11. Mateo & Matos - Feeling Sexy - Glasgow Underground
    Sounding really sexy as well as very, very catchy. After the first refrain you just can't help but sing along.
    12. Jasper Street Co feat. Ann Nesby - Praisin' his name - Basement Boys
    Doubtless the queen of gospel house music teaming up with Spen & Karizma to deliver something very close to heaven.

    Kenny & Louie has done what sounds like minor adjustments to the original to make this sound fresh for the 21st century.

    The second release on Morehouse and they're continuing to put out great soulful vocal house music of the kind I like.
    5. Blaze - A moment in time pt 1 - Shelter
    Two slabs of proper garage music. One vocal and one instrumental, both equally fantastic in that real Shelter style.
    6. Nathan Haines - Right by your side - Chillifunk
    Another proof of why Chillifunk is the best proper garage label in the UK.

    Two great musicians teaming up to deliver a classic disco house track on a new interesting label.
